Checkout How Much House Of Reps Members Are Giving Victorious Paralympics Team

The House of Representatives has resolved to give the sum of 50,000 Naira, to each member of the Team Nigeria delegation at the just concluded Rio 2016 Paralympics as a token of their appreciation for an outstanding performance.

The resolution followed a motion sponsored on Wednesday, September 21, by member of the lower chamber from Osun State, Representative Ayo Omidiran, at the National Assembly in Abuja.

Representative Omidiran said the resolve followed the team’s emergence as the best from Africa at the Paralympic Games.

To also commend them, the House has invited the team to its chamber, as a mark of honour in celebration of their performance.

Setting Six World Records

Nigerians converged at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja to welcome the Rio 2016 Paralympics athletes over the weekend, as the acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youths and Sports, Luka Jonathan, received the athletes on behalf of the Sports Ministry.

He thanked them for making the country proud by winning 12 medals in Rio Games which ended on Sunday, September 18.

The team won eight gold, two silver and two bronze medals, setting six new World Records in the process.
