Just Rename The Country 'Federal Republic Of Dangote' - Femi Kuti To Buhari [VIDEO]

Nigerian music legend, Femi Kuti has hit out at President Muhammadu Buhari and other prominent Nigerians for ever conceiving the idea to sell national assets to end the recession in the country.

He especially criticized billionaire, Aliko Dangote for ‘wanting to own the whole country’.

Femi , the son of late iconic afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, made the comments while speaking during a performance at the New Afrika Shrine, Lagos.

In what looked like a lecture session during his performance, Femi said,

“Now Dangote has said he wants to buy Nigeria from us, and they’re contemplating it, they’re discussing it. One man wants to own everything…Let’s kuku (just) call it the Federal Republic of Dangote,” Kuti said.

Dangote led calls for the sale of assets while speaking during an interview with CNBC Africa‘s Wole Famurewa.

“I think the real challenge for us is now for us to have the political will in terms of selling some assets. I think it’s an easier route than the IMF (International Monetary Fund) or the World Bank to borrow money, because what you need to do is actually to beef up the reserves,” Dangote said.

His advice was supported by Senate President, Bukola Saraki and former Central Bank governor, Sanusi Lamido who were also criticized by Femi Kuti.
