Chelsea's boss, Antonio Conte has lauded Nigerian star, Victor Moses’ all-round display in the club’s 2-0 win over Southampton in the Premier League Sunday.
Goals in either half from Eden Hazard and Diego Costa secured the three points for Chelsea, who now move fourth on the log and a point off the leaders.
The performance was also a fourth consecutive clean sheet for the Blues in the English topflight since Conte reverted to a 3-4-3 formation with Moses thriving as a wing-back.
And Conte has hailed the impact of the Nigerian on the side.
“This role is very important in this system. You must have good stamina and quality to play as wing-backs,” Conte said.
“I ask my wing-backs to do offensive and defensive work. Moses is a great surprise in this aspect.
“We know Moses as a winger, but he’s playing in a fantastic way. Also Alonso, it wasn’t easy to go in to the English league and play in this way, and I’m pleased.
“In this role, Pedro also can play, in the same way as Moses. Ivanovic or Aina can play a more defensive role as wing-back.”
Moses' Chelsea career has being a roller coaster since Conte took charge at Stamford Bridge, and Nigeria will be banking on that form when the Eagles take on Algeria’s Foxes in the 2018 World Cup qualifier, November 13, in Uyo.
He missed the win at Zambia with an injury, but he has being recalled to the side for the crucial tie.
