SAD: Ken Saro Wiwa Jr Dies Of Stroke At 47The former senior special assistant on civil society and international media to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Ken Saro Wiwa is dead. He was aged 47.
According to Sahara Reporters, family sources stated that Ken Saro Wiwa Jr died from a stroke.
The eldest son of the late Ogoni activist, Ken Saro Wiwa was born in 1968. He was a journalist and an author.
Wiwa attended the Standcliffe Hall School and Tonbridge School in England as well as the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, which is now part of the University College, London.
He was at a time the editor of the UK Guardian′s New Media Lab where he developed content for the paper’s online edition.
Before his appointment as a senior special assistant to ex-President Jonathan, he previously worked for former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua.
In 2006, Obasanjo appointed Ken Saro Wiwa Jr as his Special Assistant on peace, conflict resolution and reconciliation. Under the Yar’adua administration, he served as a Special Assistant on International Affairs.
He was selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in 2005 and was the pioneer curator of the Globalshapers program of the WEF.
He is believed to be survived by two adolescent sons. Our deepest condolences to his family.
