Battle Of The Titans: Manny Pacquiao And Mayweather To Fight Again?

If Floyd Mayweather is ever going to return to the rings, it’s got to be something special, and as far as present day boxing is concerned, they don’t come more special than Manny Pacquiao.

Feelers from boxing circles have it that a rematch between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather is 75 per cent likely to happen, Mirror reports.

This comes in the wake of Pacman’s return to action last weekend following a short-lived retirement in a comprehensive hiding of Jessie Vargas to reclaim the WBO welterweight title for a third time in Las Vegas.

And of course, his old foe Mayweather – who beat him in the blockbuster fight of the century in 2015 – had a ringside seat in Las Vegas.

Mayweather (49-0) has been retired for more than a year after his swansong victory against Andre Berto, but admitted recently that he could be tempted back (into the ring) and Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum told ESPN: “Like everyone else, I’m guessing there will be a rematch. He did come to the fight.

“I give it 75 per cent. Do I know it’s gonna happen? No. Do I know if Floyd wants the fight? No. I know nothing more than the public knows at this point and what I observed.”

Mayweather’s victory over Pacquiao last year followed years of tense negotiations.

But Arum believes it will be an easier path to a rematch unlike last time out where it was fraught with years of tense negotiations.

“It was so tense last time, but it won’t be that way now because everyone can get along,” he said.
“Floyd came to the fight and he was very friendly with [Top Rank president] Todd [duBoef] and some of our staff.”

“There’s no more animosity between the camps.”

There you have it! After the no-show between the greats last time, a rematch sure feels like the moral thing to do.
