We Are Failing To Give The Basic Education To Our Children - Ali Baba (Read)

It is no longer news that the educational system in the country is not in order. Take a walk through the streets and you see as much schools, just as we see a flood of churches.

Most of these schools are substandard and yet nothing is done to make sure they no longer operate.

Some are opened on the premise to provide cheap education to the children in the vicinity, while some argue education is not a top priority such that the children have to attend good schools, some others argue that the economy is not a friendly friend, and as such the children can just pass through any school that is seen.

A mother told a story of how she was forced to change her daughter's school twice in one term when she noticed that the child's 'brain' was diminishing.

It is in this light that ace comedian, Ali Baba says this:

When I hear people say English Language is not our mother tongue, I always wonder at what kind of thought process they went through to arrive at that conclusion. The question paper that the primary 6 pupil in Damaturu, that can not spell C-A-N, will get, is the same question paper, a pupil in Lagos, that can spell S-Y-M-E-T-E-R-Y, will get. That is the bane of our development. We are failing to give the basic education to our children. The MOST IMPORTANT PHASE OF ANY CHILD, is the age between 1 and 6 years. That is when you instill and install all the software that their hardwares (the brain, the mind and physical attributes) will run with, through their entire life. Failure to do this, will make futile all attempts to upgrade the software in later years when they turn 35 or 40. Unless something dramatic happens. As far as I am concerned, and this is to those dumb heads that say our language is equal to English Language, is there anywhere in Nigeria, that you will get a textbook that teaches what is in the pictures I posted? Will JAMB or NECO, or GCE set questions in Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Izon, Urhobo, Efik or Ibibio...? Often you hear them say the Chinese don't speak English, as the Indians don't. How flat can an argument get? There are textbooks in chemistry, IT, mathematics, physics, in mandarin and Hindi... just as you have in Spanish and French... let's wake up and stop disadvantaging our children before they even have the opportunity to face the odds that life will throw at them! Can you imagine? My daughter doesn't need assistance in her Mathematics homework. Because she can read, comprehend and apply the lessons that she has been taught. The currency of Nigerian education is ENGLISH language, if the children can not speak it, they are already short changed

True talk!
