Premier League: Title Contenders May Face Points Reduction

According to Mirror, Premier League club, Chelsea, could be the first club since 1990 to be hit with points deduction following their players' bust-up against Manchester City.

This is the fifth time Chelsea club and players have been charged in the last 19 months.

Both Manchester City and Chelsea were charged last week for failing to control their players in mouthwatering clash at The Etihad, which ended with two Manchester City players being sent off, with even members of backroom staff being involved in the brawl.

Chelsea were already warned last season about their players' conduct after London derby against Tottenham, they were even fined £375,000 by the FA which told the club about possible points deduction in the future.

The statement were made:

The Board is satisfied the greater fine on Chelsea fairly reflects its role in the incident and its lamentable recent record for failing properly to control its players. The time cannot be too far distant when a Commission concludes the only proper sanction is a points deduction.

Back in 1990, Arsenal were deducted two points in similar bust-up that happened against Manchester United, with the latter also being deducted one point.
