Atiku's University Wins Facebook Global Digital Challenge 

The American University of Nigeria (AUN), owned by former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has emerged the winner of the maiden edition of Facebook Global Digital Challenge (FGDC), Modern Ghana reports.

The final leg of the competition which was organised for African Universities, held at the Institute of Statistics Social and Economic Research (ISSER) conference room of the University of Ghana last Friday.

It required participants to design online and offline projects through which followers will engage in discourses leading to counteracting terrorism and other forms of violence.

The mouthwatering prize of $5000 was awarded to AUN while the first runner up-  University of Development Studies (UDS) Ghana, was awarded $3000. Tunisia Business School which came in at third position, went home with a $1000 prize.

Tony Sgro, CEO of EdVenture Partners, the body in charge of implementation of the event, noted that for the competition which lasted 15 weeks, 27  entries from 13 universities on the continent were  received.

Head of Programs, Africa Centre for Security and Counter Terrorism (ACSC), Mr. Emmanuel Kotin, while congratulating the participants and especially representatives of the American University of Nigeria, urged African governments to put out workable strategies which will help reduce poverty, religious fundamentalism and human rights violations.
