Hehe! Vandals Change Famed Hollywood To Read 'Hollyweed'
A prankster took to the iconic Hollywood sign overlooking Los Angeles and decided it was to be changed to read 'Hollweed' instead.
Police who responded to this said it is probably a man and that the man used tarps to change the O's in the sign to E's.
Although, the vandal was caught on security camera, but it was around midnight (2:am local time) and so the police can't tell his height or race as it was dark and raining.
The "Hollyweed" sign remained up until around 11 a.m., when authorities took down the tarps used to change the lettering.
Estevan Montemayor, a spokesman for Los Angeles City Councilman David Ryu, whose district includes the Hollywood sign, had earlier promised the iconic sign would be restored to its normal state.
We don't know who did it but park rangers are going up there very soon to take down the draping that was put on top of the 'O' to alter the sign.
This is not the first time the Hollywood Sign became the Hollyweed Sign. -- Happened in Dec. 1983 (Her-Ex) pic.twitter.com/dVxXyHt1bo— Shelby Grad (@shelbygrad) January 1, 2017
At its low point in 1970s, Hollywood sign was "Hullywood Sign" -- arsonist set fire to the "L" and the "D" almost fell over! pic.twitter.com/UgTstC2tLe— Shelby Grad (@shelbygrad) January 2, 2017
