Iwobi, Mane And Yaya Toure Battle For Premier League's Top Award

Arsenal youngster and Eagles' young star, Alex Iwobi will go up against Manchester City’s Yaya Toure and Liverpool’s Sadio Mane for the December 2016 Premier League African Player of the month award, Africanfootball.com writes.

Iwobi, who was voted Young Player of the Year at Thursday’s Glo-Caf Awards, will be looking to add the accolade to his growing list of honours after he was shortlisted alongside the big names for his stellar displays in Arsenal colours.

Ivory Coast great Yaya Toure last won the Award in December 2015 and despite enduring a torrid start to the current season, he has since bounced back to reckoning at the Etihad with a number of match-winning performances.

Africa’s record signing Mane has been one of the stars of the current Premier League campaign, enjoying a deadly partnership with Roberto Firmino in the Reds rampant attack as they stay hot on the heels of pacesetters, Chelsea. His departure to the Africa Cup of Nations could not have been more ill-timed for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Iwobi, who burst on to the scene in Arsenal early last year, has continued to impress with his sublime skills, particularly in his new no 10 role over the past weeks.

He will be looking to replace compatriot Victor Moses who won the award in November following his vital input to Chelsea’s winning streak.
