Read Why FC IfeanyiUbah Is Facing N9.15 Million Fine And Point Reduction

The League Management Company, LMC has come hard on FC IfeanyiUbah following their refusal to continue the opening game of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season on Saturday.

IfeanyiUbah were trailing 0-1 at Kano Pillars but opted to discontinue the game in apparent protest over the officiating of referee Folusho Ajayi.

As a result, the Nnewi-based side has incurred the wrath of the LMC, which has cited a breach of NPFL Rule B13.26.

FC Ifeanyiubah would now forfeit three points and three goals from the game “which shall be credited to their opponents Kano Pillars,” the LMC announced Monday night.

The club will pay a total of N9.15 million in fines for offences bordering on hindering television broadcast, unnecessary delays and other acts capable of bringing the league to disrepute.

Furthermore, there’s an eight-point deduction waiting to be activated if they fail to adhere to the NPFL Framework and Rules in the course of the season.

“FC Ifeanyiubah will further have 3 points forfeited from accrued points which will be suspended for a probationary period of the remainder of the #NPFL season,” the LMC continued on Twitter.

“Also FC Ifeanyiubah will have 2 points deducted from their accrued points, which is suspended for a probationary period of the remainder of the #NPFL season owing to hindering & infringing on fulfilment of the Broadcast Contract.

(Three) 3 points shall also be deducted from points accruing to FC Ifeanyiubah for behaviour capable of bringing the #NPFL to disrepute. This shall be suspended for a probationary period of the remainder of the season.”

FC IfeanyiUbah acting head coach, Yaw Preko and team manager, Igwe Jonathan were punished for failing the ensuing melee, the latter getting a N500,000 “for conduct capable of bringing the NPFL to disrepute.

They have until Wednesday to appeal the sanctions.
